Kaolin is a clay rock composed of the clays mineral kaolinite. It is named after a hill in southern China, Kao-ling, there it was mined for many generations. Internationally it is known as a raw material in ceramic industry. In the early fifties of the 20 century kaolin was found in Makhtesh Ramon, the Members kibutz Revivim mined it and transferred it to ceramics factory in Haifa Bay.
