Olive tree grows in most parts of Israel. Its leaves are opposite and elongated, bright green in their upper side and silvery gray underside. The flowers arranged in groups like Clusters. The Fruit and its stone have inside them a lot of oil. Olive Tree has many healing virtues. Olive oil is effective for cholesterol-lowering, against stomach worms and digestive diseases, gallstones and strengthens teeth and gums. Olive leaves assist to lower blood pressure and are recommended against viral diseases such as influenza.
Due to studies on olive oil it was found effective in reducing and balancing blood cholesterol. So it is recommended to use Cold forming olive oil more than other vegetable oils. It is recommended to add it into salad dishes, cheeses, sauces, pickles, seafood tomatoes or tomato sauce.
Treatment for reducing blood pressure and flu:
Boil 7olive leaves in a glass of boiling water or 40 leaves per liter for about fifteen minutes. Strain and drink 3 to 4 cups a day.
For Lowering blood pressure it is recommended to prepare 4 -5 liters of the decoction at one time and keep it refrigerated.
Olive researchers speculated the origin of olive, as a cultural tree, is the Mediterranean area and the Near East, including the Land of Israel. Cultural olive pits were uncovered at various ancient sites. Such as gezer, Lachish, Megiddo, Beit - Shean , the earliest ones are from 4000- year ago. The Bible recalls the olive tree, for first time, in the story of the flood, when the dove that Noah sent came back to him with an olive branch, "And the dove came in to him at eventide; and lo in her mouth an olive-leaf freshly plucked; so Noah knew that the waters were abated from off the earth." He writes extensively on the properties of olive oil; "cure intestinal pain and strengthen the abdomen and helpful Gingiva and teeth problems and helps to grow and multiply and preserve the hair; and Will remove the dandruff that are like white flour on the head skin. He also says: "a bandage from the olive tree leaves heals all wounds and leprosy, mixed with honey it treats burns ... the bark decoction helps to cure mouth and throat lesions, also removes the cataract. If washing with it the navel it stops all diarrhea and period blood. Also good for healing problems of the eyelids and ears"
