Teucrium is perennial plant from the Lamiaceae family. It often grows upright and sometimes stretched. All parts of the plant are covered with whitish gray hairs. The leaves have dentate margins. The flowers grow in dense inflorescences on top of the brunches in a white color.Teucrium is considered the medicinal plants queen, in the Land of Israel. The plant is mention on a par with the three lobed sage and the common origanum. In the Arab folk medicine it is used to treat colic, and every Arab house in Israel holds dried Teucrium leaves for "hard days".Teucrium is also recommended for pregnancy sickness, menstrual pain, diabetes, fever, asthma and more.
For treating stomach aces, menstrual pain, fever and more
Dip 4 heaping tablespoons of dried green leaves in one liter of boiling water. Set aside for 5 min, there is no point for sweetening it because it does not improve the flavor, strain and drink 2-3 cups a per day.
Another faster way, but not less efficient, is chewing 2 or 3 leaves and afterwards drinking a glass of water.
The Arabic name of teucrium is – g'aada. It comes from the word Mg'aad, that means in Arabic curly, the name has been given to the plant because its leaves are curled and dentate.
Moroccan Jews used tecurium as a plant for strengthening their baby's immune system. The treatment began one month after birth and continued for three months. Every day the mother used to give her baby to drink tecurium brew (the Bitter drink that was brewed from it was called "Lakia"). After the baby drank it, he would throw up his bowels. Then the mother would call the neighbors to come and see what "bad things" her baby had emitted out of his stomach. It is likely that if the baby survived after three months like that, he is strong enough to survive all his lifetime.
